Imagine the memories you’ve created on road trips through the stunning landscapes of Nevada—now you can help others create their own adventures. Donating a recreational vehicle not only provides you with tax benefits but also helps support local charities and community initiatives.
Many of our donors have found themselves with an RV they no longer use, whether due to lifestyle changes or the challenges of maintenance. Some vehicles might be parked at a storage lot, incurring costs of $150 to $300 a month. How pickup works
When you donate an RV or motorhome, we take care of the pickup logistics for you. Our specialized RV-transport flatbed trucks are equipped to accommodate the unique dimensions of your vehicle, ensuring safe and efficient transport. If the RV is stored at a lot, we’ll coordinate with the facility to schedule a convenient pickup time. Please note that height and length are crucial considerations; most states require a maximum clearance of 13'6" for routing. If you are unable to be on-site, we’ll manage the necessary interactions to facilitate a smooth pickup process.
What drives donation value
The condition of the house systems within your RV, including the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning, significantly influences its donation value. While drivetrain conditions matter, factors like water damage can lead to major devaluation. To maximize your donation's worth, providing recent maintenance records is highly beneficial. Additionally, seasonality plays a role, with spring auctions typically yielding the highest values. For classic RVs or motorhomes, an appraisal may be necessary to ensure you're receiving the appropriate tax deduction, following IRS Form 8283 Section B guidelines.
Documentation you need
- Title of the vehicle
- Service records for recent maintenance
- Bill of sale or MSO for off-road vehicles
- Appraisal for classic RVs
- Any existing loans or liens documentation
Nevada specifics
In Nevada, the DMV requires proper documentation for RV donations, including the title transfer for a state-titled vehicle or a bill of sale for others. Understanding the local regulations ensures a smooth donation process. If your vehicle is classified as a classic, an appraisal may be needed to assess its value accurately. Be aware that any outstanding loans or liens must be resolved before donation. Heart Wheels is here to guide you through these steps to ensure a hassle-free experience.
